Russell Smith Appointed as Musical Director

russell-smithRussell Smith has been appointed as Musical Director for our 2013 performance of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’.   In addition to his role as Musical Director,  Russell has many other theatrical skills including Actor, Composer, Tutor,  Accompanist and Singer/Songwriter.  Russell also has strong family connections with DMDS as his father,  Colin Smith,  and sisters Sharon and Samantha have played many roles in our performances, while his mother Yvonne designed the sets for many of our shows.  Colin was also director of ‘Fiddler’ when it was last performed by the society in 1990.  He won ‘Best Director’ from AIMS for this show.

Dun Laoghaire Musical and Dramatic Society will present Fiddler on the Roof at the Pavilion Theatre from Monday 18th March to Saturday 23rd March 2013. This show has enduring popularity with unforgettable songs such as ‘If I were a Rich Man’ and ‘Matchmaker’. It won nine Tony awards and there is the memorable film adaptation. This presentation will be in the hands of DMDS whose award-winning cast look forward to leading you through this much loved show.
