A huge cast of local and national singing talent presented this classic comic romance whose appeal is still undiminished 130 years after its initial showing. The DMDS performers transported their audience to the magical world of Gilbert & Sullivan in which swash-buckling pirates, flat footed policemen, a bevy of blushing maidens and a model Major General provided the back-drop to the love-story of Frederick and Mabel. This classic show filled with old favourites provided a wonderful opportunity to hear the award-winning DMDS chorus and soloists at their best.
The show received 2 AIMS nominations and Jen McGann won the award for Best comedienne for her portrayal of Ruth. We were also nominated for Best Gilbert & Sullivan Show. The show ran from Monday 8th to Saturday 13th March 2010 in the Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire |
