Hot Mikado
Our 2008 show was The Hot Mikado, based on The Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan. The cast dusted off those dance shoes as the exciting dance styles of tap dancing, jive and the jitterbug were all on display as well as a wide range of musical styles including gospel, blues and rock 'n roll. All in all, it was a fun show to produce and to perform and a complete contrast to the 2007 Greek Chorus of Children of Eden!
The Production Team for the show was headed by the very talented Pat McElwain to DMDS as our new director. He had a very large cabinet full of awards to his name including Best Director at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera in 2004, 2005 and 2006 with Honk, Singin' in the Rain and Guys & Dolls respectively and the Best Director title from the AIMS Awards for Honk in 2004 and Oklahoma in 2002 all produced with Teachers Musical Society. Ms. Deirdre Nolan, our choreographer, won the AIMS award for best Choreography for this show.
