Who We Are
Dún Laoghaire Musical & Dramatic Society (DMDS) was founded in 1959 by members of the Methodist Church. Although now an ecumenical society, we still rehearse in the Methodist Hall on Northumberland Avenue and remain very grateful for the support of the church. Today our shows are staged at the Pavilion Theatre, and at the LexIcon Theatre.
What We Do
Our season runs from September to May, during which time our performances include carol singing, charity singing events, choral competitions, and concerts. The highlight is a full musical, usually in March of each year. Significant excursions in the coming season will include the North Wales Choral Festival in Llandudno, Wales, and the AIMS Choral Festival in New Ross, Co. Wexford.
DMDS is an amateur, non-profit community organisation. Our musicals, by their spectacular nature, cost far more to produce than they will ever recoup from ticket sales. Therefore the generosity of our patrons, our sponsors & advertisers, and regular fund raising events are all vital so that we can continue to bring music to our local community.
